More Resources
Thank you for joining the #SanctuaryRising national week of action. Over 700 congregations across the country are taking a bold and prophetic stand to accompany and protect people and communities targeted by discrimination and deportation through the Sanctuary Movement.

Below is a list of resources to help you participate and amplify our movement of resistance against the newly elected administration’s hateful proposed policies before Inauguration Day and beyond.

Join an Event

Throughout the week of action, faith leaders, immigrants, families and allies will hold press conferences and vigils declaring themselves as safe spaces for immigrants, refugees and other vulnerable communities.  A dozen events are planned in major cities like Los Angeles, Denver, Portland, Tucson, the Bay Area, Philadelphia and more, as faith communities unite to stand against the Trump administration’s plans for increased deportations, criminalization and hate.

Organize Actions

If you can’t find an event in your area, consider organizing one yourself, depending on your community needs: Press conference, training, prayer vigil, etc. If you have already organized an action that is not on our Facebook events page, email kdebeausset@auburnseminary.org to get your event listed.

Resources:
  • Sanctuary National Week of Action Toolkit: This document should contain all that you need to put on an event in support of sanctuary. If you put on your own event don’t forget to email kdebeausset@auburnseminary.org so that you can be plugged into the national movement.
  • Resources for Advocacy and Education: A list of educational resources from the Interfaith Movement for Immigrant Justice that should give you any information you might need for an event.

Social Media

Faith leaders, advocates and immigrants in sanctuary from Church World Service, PICO National Network, United We Dream,  will gather on January 17th for a press call to announce details of a record number of congregations announcing they are declaring sanctuary for vulnerable communities, just three days before Donald Trump’s inauguration. We need your help amplifying the Sanctuary Movement on this day, whether you’re holding an action or not. Make sure you use the #SanctuaryRising hashtag.
